Many people choose to commute into NYC for their jobs but don't reside in the city for various reasons. One large factor is that the expense of living in the city is quite high and you get a tiny space for your money too. Many people want to move outside of the city when they start a family too giving them more outdoor space and an opportunity to go to better public schools as well. Two areas that are popular for these commuters are Union County and Essex County, New Jersey. One law firm that has a Union County workers compensation lawyer and a Essex County workers compensation lawyer have some extremely helpful information about these pair of counties for those thinking about relocating from Manhattan. This article describe these two counties and some helpful information pertaining to both.

Union county is mainly flat and low lying with the Watchung Mountains situated in the northwestern corner of the county offering a bit of a different landscape. It is a terrifically diverse county with the majority of ethnicities and races represented there. There are a great number of Italian Americans as well as Irish Americans in this county going back to many of the ancestors that arrived at Ellis Island in New York years before from Italy and Ireland. Different communities and towns have different populations in them making many people that may have felt like a minority living somewhere else, very comfortable to live around people similar to them or their culture.

Transportation alternatives in Union County make it a great place to live and an simple place for commuting into the city. The New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway are two of the major highways are located in the county which provides easy access to several locations. If you want to use public transportation, there are rail and boat ports that provide transportation as well as an airport within the county also.

Essex County is in the northeastern part of New Jersey and is the second most populated county in the state. There are extreme divides in Essex County from wealthy suburban areas in the western parts and the eastern parts that are more poor neighborhoods. In Eastern Essex county it is thought to be more inner city with high poverty and high crime rate among the housing projects. The big city of Newark is in this part of the county. There are some nice middle class neighborhoods in this section of Essex though with diverse culture and ethnic groups living in varying towns.

Western Essex on the other hand is much more suburban and affluent of a county. Many prominent business people commute into Manhattan want to reside in places such as Essex Fells for the beauty, proximity to the city and the high quality schools. The average income of a person residing here is $150,000 whereas the average in Newark which is just ten miles away is $25,000. This part of the county is less diverse with a larger white population and a very large Jewish American population as well.
